Nationally
known carvers, Phil & Vickie Bishop taught again in Salt Lake
City last month.Students chose from over 40 rough-outs for this
3 day class. Many of the rough-outs were from Phil & Vickie’s
new designs for this year. The students represented a wide range
of skill levels but everyone finished their projects - including
painting.
Before heading back to Elk City, OK.,
they scheduled a return visit next spring. Class will be held on
April 24, 25 and 26, 2009. Tuition and location to be announced
early 2009.

Ellis
Olson Santa Class - November 21 and 22, 2008
Ellis
Olson is well known for his carved Santa collection. I took my first
carving class from Ellis and have enjoyed his friendship and knowledge
over the years. I am happy to sponsor Ellis once again for a 2 day
class.
Ellis will teach a variety of his miniature designs including several
new projects added this year.
Tuition and location will be announced
soon. Class size will be limited. If you are interested, email dale@dalegreenwoodcarving.com
to be placed on the preliminary registration list.

Tip:
When Phil & Vickie were in Salt Lake last month they stayed
at my home. Phil was looking at my carvings (Talk about pressure!
) and noticed the colors had faded. Here is Phil’s
solution for restoring the color to your carvings.
Brush on a coat of Watco satin finishing wax and allow to dry for
10-15 minutes. Wipe off the excess with a soft cloth and let dry
for one hour. Brush with a soft shoe brush and watch your painted
carving come back to life. If desired, let dry overnight and spray
with clear satin spray. I used the Krylon brand with good results.
