Carve a Santa Ornament for your Tree or Mantle Display

This is a fun project and can be completed quickly.
This photo shows four ideas for carving Santa from the same rough-out. Just carve different facial expressions,

change the whiskers and all you do is decide whether or not he has a hat, change the beard, and add a cap. The rough-out can be carved for display on a shelf or mantle or add a hook to hang as an ornament.
I taught this project at Treeline last month and everyone finished carving the project, and many painted their Santa in the one-day class. I have a limited number of rough-outs available for $10.00 each. Call me at 801-503-8754 to purchase.

Ellis
Olson Santa Class
This is the 4th year I have sponsored Ellis Olson's Santa class. It seems that each year he exceeds our expectations with new designs. See all Ellis' designs at www.ellisolson.com where rough-outs are also available.
Thought
for the day:
The holiday season is always a time for reflection. I would like to extend thanks to my many wood carving friends for your support and compassion.
Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for the coming year,

Tip:
It seems we are all trying to save a few pennies these days. here is a money saving tip I learned from my carving friend, Susan hendricks. rather than buying expensive pallet paper to mix your paints, buy a roll of Reynold freezer paper at the grocery store. Just tear off a piece and tape it to your table shiny side up. It works great!
Thanks Susan. |
